It took some Googling to figure out that “kiwi berry” wasn’t just some crazy Vermont slang for “kiwifruit.” Or Chinese gooseberry, as it were. 

Wikipedia (the most valid of all sources) claims that they aren’t a commercial hit because they have “sporadic tendencies to ripen.” Exciting! I’ll look around (Chelsea Market?), but I might have a hard time actually finding the things.
